If you are a fan of The Simpsons then I’m sure it would be impossible to forget Ned Flanders and his famous "Hi-Diddly-Ho". Does anyone recall that one episode where Flanders opens a store called 'The Leftorium' which sold left-handed goods? If not, let me explain.

Flanders opened the store, which, at first, was failing drastically partly because Homer wished it would (and unfortunately this became true). As we saw, Flanders’s life went downhill very quickly. Homer begins to regret his wish and finally decides to atone for his wrongdoings. He told EVERYONE in town who was looking for left-handed products to go to 'The Leftorium' ultimately saving Ned and his store from bankruptcy.

I can (and I’m pretty sure most businesses can) relate to this scenario. Ok, not the part about someone sabotaging our business, but more the need for someone to be our Homer Simpson and spread the word. Enter The Federation of Small Businesses.

Prior to joining, I was sitting alone in my spare room cold calling companies every day and it became a difficult and lonely place especially during COVID-19. Technically…... I am still sitting alone in a room but I am now part of a community and collaborating with other passionate small businesses.

I may have started my journey on my own but becoming part of FSB is the best thing I have done for my business. I have joined up with thousands of others like me! There are numerous virtual networking seminars and we can take full advantage of their resource centre which has guides on everything from insurance, legal and PR advice.

The FSB has had a huge impact on, and as a thank you, I want to extend this help by creating a special offer for fellow members:

RefermyJobs was created to eliminate the high risk and cost associated with job advertising. We guarantee that you do not pay a single penny if your advert doesn't attract the right candidate.
